Frequently Asked Question
WHAT’S IN THE BOX?
- The humidifier.
- The bracket for the wall installation.
- The thee bracket for the ceiling installation.
- The feed water hose (59 inches long).
- The feed water kit for 5/16” hose.
- The drain hose (59 inches long).
- The owner manual.
- Screws and some other stuff.
WHAT’S NOT IN THE BOX?
The following are not included in the package and must be supplied separately:
- Additional wall screws (it depends form the installation).
- Chains for hanging installation (if you choose this option).
- Power cables.
- A protected power supply.
- An humidistat or an SPST contact (see below).
- A tap water supply. An RO water system is suggested but not mandatory.
- A water drain.
- Additional pipes (it depends from the installation).
- On the feed water pipe a filter and a valve are strongly recommended.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NEB AND MINI NEB?
NEB and mini NEB works with the same principle: the main differences are the capacity and the electronic board, that is installed only on NEB 6500 model.
For details see the Home page and the Comparison Table.
HOW DO I CONNECT THE POWER CABLE?
Connect the 3-wire power cable to the L-W-GND terminals inside the external junction box.
Connect the 3‐wire power cable to the L and W terminals: the ground wire must be connected to the splicing connector.
DO I NEED THE HUMIDISTAT?
The humidistat starts the humidifier only when needed according with the value of humidity you choose. If you want, you can use a manual switch or a timer to start and stop the humidifier.
WHERE DO I HAVE TO CONNECT THE HUMIDISTAT?
The humidistat must be connected to the H-H terminals with a 2-wire cable.
The H-H terminals are regularly checked by the electronic board to see if the contact is open or close. The humidistat, or at least the SPST contact connected to the H-H terminals, is mandatory because to start and stop the humidifier you must operate this contact. It’s very important to power supply the humidifier, even when it stops, to permit the electronic board to perform all its tasks.
Warning! Do not apply any voltage to the H-H contacts. The humidistat DOES NOT have to cut the power supply.
The H-H contacts cut off the power supply of the humidifier. The humidistat, but more in general the SPST connected to the H-H terminals must support the rated current of the humidifier (1.0 A at least).
HOW DO I CONNECT THE WATER SUPPLY?
NEB 6500 and mini NEB
Connect the L-shaped 3/4″ end of the feed water tube to the solenoid valve.
WHAT IS THE PRESSURE SUGGESTED PRESSURE FOR THE FEED WATER?
The water MUST have a pressure between 14,5 psi and a maximum of 145 psi. We strongly suggest to place a water pressure reducing valve between the water supply and the humidifier.
WHAT KIND OF WATER CAN I USE?
You can run the unit with tap water or RO water.
CAN I RUN THE HUMIDIFIER WITH LIQUIDS DIFFERENT FROM WATER?
No! The humidifier is designed for air/water humidification only. Any other use is improper and potentially dangerous.
HOW DO I CONNECT THE DRAIN?
The installation of the drain is very simple: connect the hose to the discharge elbow placed in the back of the unit.
WHY DO I NEED A DRAIN?
- NEB 6500
The humidifier drains the water one time, when the power supply is connected to the unit, and every time it stops. The “washing‐cycle” is controlled by the electronic board.
- mini NEB
When the units stops the water inside the humidifier comes back to the basin: this process, most of the times, will start the siphon and drain the water out of the humidifier.
WHAT IS THE CORRECT PROCEDURE TO STOP THE HUMIDIFIER?
- NEB 6500
Open the H-H contact and wait a couple of minutes that the electronic board performs all it’s task.
Cut off the power supply
- mini NEB
Cut off the power supply.
Wait a couple of minutes and wait that the unit is completely stopped
DO I NEED REGULAR SERVICE?
Yes! Even if there is no problem. A regular service will keep high the efficiency of the unit and will preserve it from malfunctions.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE HUMIDIFIER BE SERVICED?
The period depends from the application: we suggest to check the unit after one month from the first run but also after one week if the environment is dusty or dirty. The service, in most cases, will require a deep cleaning of the unit only, without replacing any part. Download the Service Manual here for more details.
